One project I was tasked with during my summer internship at Fairbanks Morse, an engine manufacturer in Beloit, Wisconsin, was starting a blog for the new website. The company rebranded this summer and was looking to become more digitized and to be perceived as a thought leader in the energy industry. My responsibility was to create a concept for the blog, draft a content calendar, and write blog posts.

This task required me to research topics, strategize on content creation, and then execute professional writing skills. The blog posts were reviewed and approved by my boss and then posted on the company website. Upon the completion of my internship, I left a system in place for creation of future blog posts. From this experience, I was exposed to the challenges of building a media platform from the ground up. I also learned the importance conducting research prior to beginning a project. My research of blogging best practices and industry standards helped shape my vision for the project and eased the remainder of the process.
